Academics & Leadership

Newark Athletics is more than just putting on a uniform and playing games. It is more than winning and losing. The teachers and coaches strive to instill certain values in every student-athlete. Emphasis is placed on academics, sportsmanship, leadership, and dedication.

Student-athletes are held accountable for meeting academic standards set by DIAA and the Christina School District. Students below a 2.0 GPA are required to attend tutorial sessions at least twice a week. Sportsmanship is practiced both on and off the field. Newark High School has a Sportsmanship Committee comprised of coaches, athletes, parents, and administrators that meet when necessary. Our coaches encourage athletes to lead by example. Dedication to your teammates and sport is emphasized.
